Message from the founder

MMF Spotlight - Personality Development Success and Call for volunteers

The MMF has been quite a busy bee the past year making inroads in various education initiatives. The pilot program catered for enrichment in English speaking came to an end after an amazing and eventful nine-month journey. It was humbling for the MMF team and volunteers to interact and share experiences with about 70 participants ranging from school-going children to college-age students. The participants overwhelmingly approved the way we conducted this program and have learned to overcome their fear of English speaking and improved their organization skills. They made many new friends and connections in the process. Please visit this site to see what they have to say about the program on YouTube here: MMF Personality Development. We wish them all success and lead fulfilling lives. Their encouraging positive feedback provided us the incentive to open ourselves up for a 10-week Life Coaching Summer program and will seek applications soon.

If you are interested in volunteering to help with this program or any of our other MMF activities, please reach out to us via this Google form https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScgfp81goQzgd9prU6aOwpl7dUudbqMso029hIV_kPMDJ3JTA/viewform. We always welcome new volunteers and we promise that it will be a fun-filled and exhilarating experience getting involved in our initiatives.

MMF Spotlight - Professional Development Initiatives

We devoted a part of the MMF personality development initiative for the professional and career development of college-going students. We have conducted resume-building, technical guest lectures, and practice interview rounds to help the students build a foundation as they pursue job and career opportunities.

Our success in this program is only because we were standing on the shoulders of giants. The MMF volunteers have been instrumental in supporting our cause and we wouldn’t have made an inch of progress without their helping hands. We are indebted to Pavan Allaparthi garu, Suresh Koutam garu, Ramesh Nekkanti garu, Ramesh Nookala garu, Rohini Praveena garu, Indrani Koduri garu, Anil Kumar garu, and Sanjay Smital garu for donating their time and effort in coordinating, conducting, following up, and providing constructive feedback to the participants in this program.

MMF Spotlight - Farming Initiatives

Soil contains microorganisms that naturally provide plants the nutrition they need for healthy growth. The use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides for a higher crop yield in recent decades has destroyed this natural habitat making farming land uncontrollably dependent on chemical-based fertilizers for agricultural growth. Not realizing the detrimental effect these chemicals have on soil degradation, farmers have been walking in lockstep with fertilizer and pesticide companies for a  better crop yield. Improper (or overutilization) of these chemicals in farms and their produce reaches an unsuspecting consumer’s body causing untold health problems. The MMF has been very concerned about this and has been looking for opportunities to mitigate it.

A chance casual conversation with one of the participants in the MMF personality development program led us to make a connection with  Dr. Rama Raju garu from Bhimavaram, a leading expert with decades of experience in bio-fertilizers. Dr. Rama Raju garu has received many accolades for his work in developing bio-fertilizers for various crops. He has demonstrated superior crop produce in various parts of India and was working to introduce safe, sustainable, environmentally friendly, and cost-effective bio-fertilizers in the Andhra and Telangana states.  The picture here is Dr. Rama Raju garu showing increased grape yield in a plantation in Hyderabad after the liquid bio-fertilizer application he developed. The commonality the MMF shared with him about the harmful effects of chemical-based fertilizers led us to join hands in forming a collaboration.

As a part of this initiative, the MMF is in the process of requesting the AP and TS governments to formally assess and promote the use of bio-fertilizers as a viable alternative to chemical-based counterparts. We will keep you posted if/when we hear back from either the AP or TS Governments in our subsequent newsletters.

Food Donation Drive in the USA

The COVID-19 vaccination efforts are continuing in the country and millions of Iowans have already been vaccinated. The MMF began planning for a phased resumption of our regular service activities. We continued our congregate food service following recommended safety precautions. Please reach out to us if you are able to help with our food service activities. The MMF food donation drive for the Food Bank of Iowa is still short of our intended goal. We reached about 75% of our ambitious goal and our efforts served about 15,000 meals thus far.

If you are able to, please contribute to the Food Bank of Iowa by clicking here: https://give.foodbankiowa.org/teams/13760-manaloni-manishi-foundation-mmf-you-are-what-you-think

The cloud of pandemic uncertainty seems to be clearing up and our actions will greatly determine the speed of resuming normalcy in our lives. We request you to continue to follow safety practices and physical distancing guidelines. We can survive COVID-19 together.
